Outdoor Hockey Club captures the sights, sounds, and stories around rinks everywhere...

Hockey has a special energy when it is played outdoors. The air is crisp, skates carving the ice sound better, and the on-ice fun lasts for hours.

The same winter months that are dreaded by some are coveted by a special group of hockey lovers. The ones who do everything they can to hit the outdoor ice the moment it is ready.

This group doesn’t just include the ones playing the game. There are the ones who arrive first to shovel, scrape, flood, and care for the ice. The icemakers are up before sunrise and back at it once the stars come out. These volunteers do it for the love of the game. Their reward is watching others enjoy their frozen work of art.

When the rinks are ready, the migration begins.

Games break out between friends, families, and people who have just met. Sticks are tossed in the middle creating various combinations of teams and endless hours enjoying hockey in its purest form. It is hockey without limitations - no high registration fees or try-outs. People of all ages and skill levels share the ice, share some laughs, and enjoy endless fresh air.

There are countless rinks in backyards, on rivers and lakes, or in towns and cities across the country. These rinks are home to many inspiring stories and engaging characters.

In this ‘Club’, all you have to do is show up to be a member.
